FAQ
I don’t get it! explain Universal Time Link to me simply?
Every now and then, most of us post or publish an email out to a group of people that are in differing time zones. Sometimes that time is important, and you need to know that everyone will be on the same page with the time you intend them to know about. Sending that group a Universal Time Link (UTL) is the easiest way known today to express a time. But the great part of it is that you will be certain that they all have the correct time*.
If you want to post a time to a bunch of people in different time zones, you would normally send them a local time along with your time zone. Time formats differ & daylight savings gets tricky, & in short, some people will get the time conversion wrong for your posted time, especially if they do it manually. These time zone things are kinda confusing, & that’s why we’re here.
Alternatively, you can post everyone a Universal Time Link. And that is easier then drinking coffee! To do this, go to the Timulator, enter the time that you want to post, choose your social network, add a message & click send. The whole process takes you about 15 seconds, & is probably faster & easier than sending it manually. Everyone clicking the link will get their respective local time in about 3 seconds! Everyone’s happier. So are you!
Why is there a calculator called the Timulator?
The Timulator the the home site page of UniversalTimeLink.com is there to convert your local time into a Universal Time Link & to post it to your audience. We used to call it a Time Calculator but everyone just got confused with a maths calculator. There is only one place to enter a local time. You can’t go wrong, & it’s a 2-step process taking about 15 seconds. Try it now – post yourself your own coming birthday!
Main FAQ: Just what is UTTP?
UTTP stands for Universal Time Token Protocol. UTTP Time is a whole new time mechanism for the world that involves a new time protocol, an active background conversion agent & a public interface. UTTP Time is tokenized time, which allows you to post time as a Universal Time Link to the world via the Timulator. In other words, you can package a local time into a web link that will decode into the time zone in which it is clicked a LOT easier than a time zone conversion calculator for your audience!
When did UTTP Time start?
As a Time system, UTTP Time started on January 30th 2014 00:00 UTC+0 & this time is referred to as the Chronox. This is the same as January 1st 0000 AD in conventional time. As a Universal Time Link, this time is: https://universaltimelink.com/201422RHLS-The_was_when_the_first_attempt_at_a_universal_time_server_was_switched_on A UTTP time token is needed in order to express time as a web-link. But even though we have now made this Universal Time Token Protocol, it wouldn’t be much good to the general public without a smart background agent, called Enhanced Time Zone Intelligence.
Is UTTP Time the same as normal time – give me the tech stuff?
No. A UTTP time token is completely unambiguous, and cannot be mistaken, from any time zone. the UTTP token is actually encoded UTC time, encoded in the form of a proprietary base-30 number system. Overall, a time token cannot be compared to normal time, however it does represent normal UTC time. UTTP is a token in the form of a character string that means the same spacial moment in time. However, the geographic time of a UTTP time token is determined by where the token is activated (clicked), and is interpreted by the backagent: ETZI – Enhanced Time Zone Intelligence.
I don’t understand everything on the Timulator page?
Have a go! Enter a time, enter a message, and enter a duration or recurrence if you like, and then post it back to yourself with one of the sharing options.
Will UTTP Time save my company money?
This depends on what your company does. If your company has international communication, online meetings, international branches, international clientele then yes. Where there is a need for times to be furnished to a global audience for things, then Universal Time Links will be the quickest, easiest and surest way to get everyone the right times for things.
What is the format of UTTP Time?
An UTTP Time is made of a 4-digit integer year + 4 digit base-30 date and time, and a 2 digit base-30 control code.
Do I need to understand what a UTTP Time means?
No, ust use it. A UTTP Time is a time & protocol code, & is used by UTTP servers to decode time & interpret other signifiers within the code. If someone online were to send you a GMT or UTC time, you would still need to interpret the format, & then to convert the UTC time to your own time zone. But the UTTP time code does everything for you after you click the Universal Time Link (UTL).
Is UTTP Time a free service?
Yes. It is an endeavor to provide global unambiguous time. A universal world time solution needed to be initiated by a private organization as a courtesy technology, because to co-ordinate this with world governments would be logistically & politically impossible.
Does UTTP Time allow for Daylight Savings?
Yes. Daylight Savings Time (DST) is always a problem with time software, & it was a challenge during the building of Enhanced Time Zone Intelligence (ETZI). Most software handles DST perfectly, except when it comes to the scourge for all developers: the DST transitional hour problem. When DST begins for a given time zone, the clocks are moved forward one hour, causing one hour to not exist, & to never have existed for that time zone. When DST ends for that time zone, the clocks are moved back one hour, meaning that on that day, one hour is duplicated. There is no easy software solution for a duplicate hour, but UTTP has found the solution.
Do I need to worry about Time Zone conversions now?
If you receive local time from people in other time zones, yes. If they send you a Universal Time Link, then you have to click the link. Encourage others with the new system by always using it yourself.
What is a Universal Time Link?
UTTP Time is tokenized time, which is different to having it linkable. By linkable, we mean that UTTP Time can be sent, delivered & handled as an ordinary web link, making it very powerful. The general public, when using the Timulator, will only ever see & use a Universal Time Link. Only companies & agencies will ever have a need to store raw UTTP time tokens.
Why is UTTP Time universal?
UTTP Time is time that has been converted into an unambiguous code. example: kw2307 This code represents a second in time, regardless of time zones, or time zone offsets. Thus, it is truly Universal World Time. Event he expression of a UTC moment is ambiguous, but not so with a UTTP time token.
What is the significance of UTTP Time?
The world has reached connection, & one of the final great calls has been to unify time. Now the job is done. As an authoritative time code, UTTP Time can be used in all corners of society: airport VDUs, itineraries, website time stamps, international investigations, real-world & online event programming, webinars, lectures, Olympic games…. The list is endless. Added to these is the general everyday use by the general public using Universal Time Link (UTL). The world now has a means of grabbing onto the same code that unambiguously means the same moment around the world.
What is the medium that UTTP Time can be used on?
UTTP Time consists of letters & numbers, so it can be used on any medium that is readable. UTTP Time can be tweeted, facebooked, googled, emailed, mailed, written, spoken, yelled, whispered, morse-coded, carrier-pigeoned, messaged, texted, scribed, chalked, telepathed, signed or otherwise displayed. The medium to decode UTTP time is via a computer & the internet. The Universal Time Link (UTL) feature can only be used on the internet. To be a universal time system, the system must ultimately be linked to the world & that can only be done via the internet.
Does UTTP Time replace our existing time?
No. UTTP Time is an addition to our existing time. UTTP does NOT subscribe to removing our existing time zones. The overall concept of UTTP Time is the introduction of a master Global Time Zone, that interacts with all the other time zones for easy & faultless time zone conversions. Removing the existing time zones or globally changing our time system would cost the world trillions of dollars. UTTP has found an easier way, that costs the world nothing.
What does a new Global Time Zone mean?
UTTP Time, by its very nature & by the generation of UTTP Time Protocol (EBT) creates a new global time zone. Where the standard time zones are geo-political time boundaries, mandated & agreed on by governments, the UTTP Global Time Zone exists subsequently of it’s own universal time code, which has no geographic association. Because a universally unambiguous time system is unprecedented, & because this time system is tokenized & globally native, it does represent a new global time zone. Official recognition of the UTTP Global Time Zone, signified as the Universal Time Zone (UTZ), can only occur after popularity, followed by a formal proposal to the International Standards Organization (ISO) for panel review & acceptance. After this process, the UTTP Global Time Zone can be officially recognized & used by cartographers, meteorologists, governments, demographics etc. Currently the UTTP Global Time Zone is a proprietary proposal to the world as a free service.
Is UTTP Time an Official New Time Standard?
Not yet. It is an active & functioning new time proposal to the world for a globally universal time system, that has been developed & maintained for the use of future generations. It has been developed to produce a necessary solution to eliminate time zone confusion, time zone mistakes, financial & situational loss, and to provide the world with an authoritative unambiguous time. A universal world time solution has become necessary since the arrival of the modern internet, where the world has connected & now interacts 24×7.
Why would I send UTTP Time to friends?
Possibly 100million times exist on the internet, & if we include social networking time-stamping, that figure could be about 1 billion. The internet world will clearly adhere better with a universal world time code hanging around out there. But obviously you won’t always need to post a Universal Time Link to friends. However, if your circle includes 20k people, then a Universal Time Link is going to save a lot of people headaches, & will collectively save the world a lot of time. The maths will surprise you:
Supposing that your tweet a Universal Time Link to 20,000 people, & supposing that each person is saved a minute of time in time zone conversion. This works out to 20,000/24/60 = 13.8 days. Universal Time Link is not only saving your friends time, but is helping to save the world’s time!
Why would I Send UTTP Time to colleagues or staff?
Let’s say you are a CEO of a multinational company, with 1200 store managers in 25 countries. You have just been made aware of a $100million deal to take effect overnight which will affect all stores, requiring you to do an important Ustream to all 1200 managers the next day at 7am your time. You cannot afford to have anyone get the time of the Ustream wrong. If you email or text a Universal Time Link, you have ensured that everyone will have the correct time. Why should you worry about time zone mistakes when you can use this 15 second process?
Why would I post a Universal Time Link to my fans?
Your global fans are far more than your income. They are family who wait patiently to hear of any event that you advertise. Posting a Universal Time Link helps to avoid the disappointment of anyone missing the event through time confusion.
Why would I use UTTP Time for Time Stamping?
If you are Google, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram or YouTube you may help your subscribers by giving them an authoritative time for user updates. Users are often confused with the actual time of time-stamps. Additionally providing an UTTP time token, gives the authoritative time for an update or an activity.
Is UTTP Time like a Star-Date time?
No. UTTP Universal World Time is simply tokenized time. However, the message string can be used to signify any parameters and values that an organization wants, and by using their own logic for the received Universal Time Link, could send quite a lot of signified data.
How will UTTP Time work in non-english countries?
When building the UTTP Time protocol, we needed to make decisions about notation that will be universal. We considered cultural aspects as well as efficiency, as well as the future of society in regard to the internet. UTTP Time uses the standard US keyboard alphanumeric characters, because most non-english and non-alphabetic cultures do use or simulate the alphabetic character set. The decision was not an easy one, but in the end English was the choice.
